Tamu is Sabah own version of Open Market and Tamu was introduced by the British officer stationed at North Borneo as a meeting place for the villagers. One of the biggest Tamu sites is at Kota Belud Town. Kota Belud town is also one of the earliest districts to start the Tamu.
