One of the most popular activities for Travellers to Sabah is visit one of the many islands of Sabah. Many may know the world famous Sipadan Island but Sabah have many more beautiful island for diving, snorkelling and jungle trekking. Here are activities you can find at some of the islands in Sabah.

Diving 

Other than the world famous Sipadan island, Mataking Island and Layang Layang Island offer great diving experience for divers from all around the world. Layang Layang is situated in very deep waters with the drop off outside the island’s reef falling away to approximately 2000 metres and the island has been reclaimed rom the ocean and artificially increased in size by the use of concrete rubble.

 

Snorkelling

Not a diver but still keen on the underwater world? Sabah offer some of the best sites for snorkelling. You can go for a quick trip at Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine park which is only 10 minutes away from Kota Kinabalu city or snorkelling at crystal clear water at Mantanani Island.

Turtle Island Park is made up of three island namely Pulau Selingan, Pulau Bakkungan Kecil and Pulau Gulisan.. Turtle Island Park is famous for its green and hawksbill turtles. Between the months of July and October, turtles make their trip to the island to lays their eggs. get a rare opportunity to see endangered turtles nest – a dream come true for many a visitor to Turtle Island

Not only Sabah is blessed with beautiful Island, you can find beautiful long beach at most of the islands. From the Pulau Sapi at Kota Kinabalu to Pulau Tiga near Kuala Penyu, you will never short of choices when it comes to getting suntan in Sabah

Jungle trekking 

As most of the island is isolated from the mainland, Trek through some of the most pristine rainforest jungle and discover flora and fauna. Ready your walking shoes when visit to Gaya Island and Manukan Island and trek to the opposite of the island. You can also trek up to the highest point at Bohey Dulang and see the panoramic view of nearby Island at Semporna.

Visit the real people of the Sea (Bajau Laut)

The Bajau Laut at Semporna live their whole life at Sea. known for their seafaring skills. Bajau Laut tribes are usually known as the sea gypsy people. Take a visit to their house built on sea at Maiga Island and the surrounding islands.
