Borneo Reef World – Asia largest pontoon

Do you know that there is a Asia largest pontoon at Sapi Island? This is a question asked by my fellow travel blogger. I tell him that seriously I never heard of it before and I feel so outdated as he is not even a Sabahan! He tells me that the pontoon is about 2 shop-lots in size with many modern facilities for diving, snorkeling and sea walking. Sea walking? Now I am seriously lost as I am not sure how sea walking works at all. After that fateful meeting, I decide to visit this place once and for all to experience it myself. Sea walking, how cool is that! I have to book this trip after I know Amazing Borneo offers Sea Walking with the Borneo Reef World adventure package. On top of that, they also offer Sapi Island Excursion in the package.

The Amazing Borneo van picks us up at Asia City at 8:30AM and we reach the Sabah Park Jetty in 5 minutes time. After all the other guests arrive at the jetty, we take a 10 minutes speedboat ride to Borneo Reef world. Considering the bad weather for last few days, we are extremely lucky to have sunny day today.

The Borneo Reef World is made of Marine grade anti-rust aluminium.  It can hold up to 500 passengers at one time! This modern facility has platform for snorkeling, bathing, kitchen, sun deck, and lots of space for relaxation.

the helmet is heavy in order to keep it on your shoulder all the time

A hose feeds air into the helmet, and the pressure keeps the water out. when wearing the helmet, you will keep hearing sounds of air pumping into and out of the helmet.

Sapi Island is a nice little island known for its clear water and beautiful scenery. It may often get too crowded with tourists.

After a nice snorkeling session at Sapi Island, it’s time to leave. We collect our personal items from Borneo Reef World and proceed back to Kota Kinabalu. We reach the Sabah Park Jetty at 3:00PM.

The Package price for a person to Borneo Reef World Adventure is RM295 and I can say it’s a good trip as it includes Sea Walking and Sapi Island Excursion. Borneo Reef World is suitable for those who want to do sea adventures in a safe environment. If you prefer to relax on the beach, then the island hopping package trip at Tunku Abdul Rahman park may be a better choice for you.
